Hi All,

I've just wanted to congratulate and thank you all for this amazing initiative of empowering English teachers in Haiti via the MIIS teaching techniques. Ruth and Vanessa have been doing a wonderful job and all of us are very grateful for that. Today is our last day of training and I know it's going to be fun. It's also a day of evaluation where we will have to show to each other how much we've learned during the session, it's going to be a bit challenging but I am looking forward to it. I am sure we all can make it.

Thanks again to everyone who made this possible, including those who are supporting and monitoring our steps all the way from California. Hope to see you guys there whenever possible.

Greetings & Flash Info on the training-day 5th

I send all my best greetings to all of you: Trainers from MIIS (I quote: Ruth and Vanessa who give both an excellent performance from day 1st to day 5th), Initiators of such program and all my colleagues Teachers.

A flash: two things that I have learned today:
1. Assessment= Rubric+ Criteria+ Levels+ descriptor.

Remark: recommendation-after the grade, the Teacher is supposed to write some lines just to make the student understand what the assessment is all about: which specific part of the activity he did excellent and which part he or she has to work on so that to improve it.

2. How to prepare a Booklet

Special thanks to you both Ruth and Vanessa, you're both awesome!

                                                                                                              Sincerely Rodney Adams DECAMP

Bonsoi!! This is Ruth and Vanessa reporting from Day 1 of the Train-the-Trainers workshop at St. Andre's School in Hinche! We had a great first session with our new Haitian English-teaching friends and are very excited to work with them for the next few days. Today was mainly about getting to know each other and talking about our teaching contexts, but we also did a lot of self-reflection about what it means to be a language teacher and how we can improve our practice. The teachers were all very enthusiastic and willing to discuss their ideas, so we are looking forward to what the rest of the workshop holds!
